Framing Costa Rica
This portfolio is a result of time spent in Costa Rica and Central America. The theme addresses how we tend to frame our experiences to give them a mediated meaning rather than allowing ourselves to have a direct experience with our surroundings. The many facsimiles of nature integrated into the natural world in Costa Rica create a continual play between the artificial and the real. These artificial environments present a distraction or interruption from the natural environment while making a sometimes unintentional comment on contemporary culture.
